Event Description

Our aim is to add Christmas magic to as many families as possible this Christmas season with a visit to meet Santa at the Aldenham Country Park Santa’s Grotto.  The event is a experience for individual families where they will meet the eves and Santa plus take a trip into the Elves Toy Shop to choose any present they would like to take home.

We want every visitor both child and adult, to leave the experience with a great big smile on their face with memories that will last a lifetime.

 

Santa Requirements:

To ensure we meet our goals we aim to provide the highest standards of service and enjoyment for our guests, so the following attributes are essential to be part of the Aldenham Country Park team:

 

·         Have a passion for working with children and ability to keep high levels of enthusiasm throughout the day. 

·         A friendly and outgoing personality

·         Confidence and ability to interact with all visitors both adult and child 

·         Ability to keep to strict timings

·         Ability to keep calm under all circumstances and ensure you provide the best possible service 

·         A clear understanding of the importance of creating Christmas magic and being in Character, both persona and uniform, AT ALL TIMES

·         A willingness to work hard and have fun at the same time!

 

Santa Roles and Responsibilities

 

·         Welcome the families as they enter the grotto

·         Help the build excitement with outgoing children and encourage shy children to overcome their shyness or fear and enjoy the experience

·         Adapt to each family’s needs with a variety of options to do/talk about ie

-      Move around the room talking about your writing desk and what happens to the letters

-      How you find out who is on the naughty and nice list

-      A range of distraction toys for shy children etc

·         Ensure you involve the parents in the experience

·         Explain all the toys are in the Elves Toy Shop and show each family in to choose their own gift

·         Wish each family a Merry Christmas

 

Santa Attributes

 

·         Jolly and friendly

·         A good Ho Ho Ho

·         Confidence to adapt your demeanour and tone of voice to each child

·         Confidence with children with special needs (training provided where needed)

·         Ability to put shy and fearful children at ease and encourage them to get involved

·         Ability to involve both the children and adults into the experience

·         Able to stay in character at all times including full costume, beard and hat

 

Experience & Qualifications:

Experience in a children’s entertainment or performance based environment would be an advantage but is not essential

Full training will be given but above all you must be enthusiastic.

 

Event Dates and Rota:

The event is running on selected days between Saturday 9th and Christmas.  See the website for exact days and times 

Santa's will be required to work a minimum of 8 shifts

Working times 9.30am – 6pm approx. plus later dusk visits available 

 

Please come to the interview with your availability for the dates stated above.  The rota for the whole of December will be provided in advance.  Once a shift has been allocated to you it becomes your shift, if you cannot complete this shift it is your responsibility to find cover, shift swaps must be approved by David Martin in advance.  

 

Contract and Rates of Pay:

Zero hour one season contract.

Rate of pay £15ph

Elf Requirements:

Elf Roles and Responsibilities

 

Elf Check In

·         Meet each family and check them into the experience ensuring they have arrived on the correct date and time of their booking

·         Chat with the children, build excitement and ease nerves

·         Show the children how to find their Elf Name and wish them a happy experience

·         Ensure families enter the experience at the correct times to keep to the schedule

·         Advise on other activities happening on site during the day

 

Santa’s Grotto & Elves Toy Shop

·         Welcome families into Santa’s Grotto and help shy children feel at ease

·         Be aware of timings and help Santa’s keep to timings whilst ensuring visitors don’t feel rushed

·         Welcome children into the Elves Toy Shop and explain they can have any unwrapped present they would like

·         Help them choose one present

·         Encourage children who may take longer to decide to ensure the grotto runs to times.

·         Wish each families a Merry Christmas as they depart

 

Experience & Qualifications:
